For the last year, we’ve all been inundated with exaggerated coverage of the Trump administration. I won’t get into the president’s charges of ‘fake news’ or the truth about the coverage of him. My concern is that there is a problem in America far greater than Trump and it is being overshadowed. That problem is the moral decay of our culture and the open hypocrisy of the left.
The decay has been going on for decades but it has gone from a slow but deliberate shift to the left to warp speed under Trump. This new distraction allows them to push their alternative views and say they are simple taking an anti-Trump stance.
The left has been screaming for over a year about the dangers of the president suppressing the freedom of speech. While there’s no denying that he mocks and dismisses them, that is a far cry from suppressing. In the meantime, the left has been actively suppressing speech it doesn’t like. College campuses all over the country are banning speech. The LA Times recently said the case is closed on climate change so they will no longer publish articles with a dissenting view, even with proof. The liberal mob is shouting people down or demanding their jobs. In an ironic twist, they are saying you suppress freedom of speech by reviewing someone else’s opinion. In other words, person one has the right to call someone a racist but person two, a conservative, cannot say person one was stupid for saying it. Freedom doesn't extend to both. In a word, hypocrisy.
They profess to be champions of racial equality and bemoan how poorly blacks and Latinos are treated in this country but their actions present a stark contrast. Ask yourself, do companies run by liberal CEOs have greater diversity than conservative ones? Is Silicon Valley overflowing with job opportunities for blacks? How about where the elites on the left live; are they meccas for diversity? Take a look and you will find that most of the Democrats in Congress live in neighborhoods that are less than 10% black or Hispanic, combined. Time for a new bussing program?
What about the laws that many in minority communities decry as racist? I’m sure Democrats would be shocked to find out that the mandatory minimum, 3-strikes rule, and anti-drug legislations were all introduced by Democrats and garnered more Democrat votes; several of whom are still in office. I live in Chicago and listen to urban talk radio. The majority of the time is spent complaining about the mayor, county board president, assessor and other politicians’ failings, all Democrats. But don’t worry, they will tell you what you want to hear.
What about Hollywood? They talk the diversity talk. So, what was with the ‘Oscar’s So White’ campaign? But even when minorities do get nominations, look at their roles. It’s evident a black actor would be hard-pressed to get nominated unless they are in a civil rights era film, Viola Davis and Ruth Negga, playing a slave, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o, or in a servile role, Octavia Spencer and Mary J. Blige. Where are the minority run studios, and high-level execs?
There seems to be the same level of hypocrisy when it comes to gender equality. They speak out about the injustices of the gender pay gap but the darling of the media, who would be president, paid the women who worked for her less than the men. Hollywood consistently pays women less for equal billing, the tech giants can’t seem to fill their top roles with women and there’s never been a female network evening news anchor. No inequality here; I guess women don’t apply or are unqualified. While we’re talking about income, do a simple search for the cities in which there is the greatest income disparity between rich and poor. You’ll find than the vast majority, if not all, are under complete Democrat control.
When the Democrats are not working hard to blur the line between what they say and what they do, they are tearing at the moral fiber of our country. They yell about gender equality while they argue there is no difference between boys and girls. If the genders are the same, what’s the point of switching?
They encourage girls to be hypersexual; telling them anything the boys can do, they can do. At the same time, in the gray area of an alleged date rape, they say that the girl is a delicate flower so it’s always the boys fault. She doesn’t even have to say “No” anymore. “No means no” has turned into “Did you fill out a consent form?”
In same-sex relationships, they’ve gone from saying people should not be harassed because they are gay to promoting the lifestyle. Hollywood is the catalyst for much of their agenda. Look at some recent Oscar nominations. Last year’s winner for best picture, Moonlight, was an unremarkable coming-of-age film but it had a key ingredient; a gay main character. This year, the nominees include: a gay boy falling for an older man, Call Me by My Name; a movie glorifying bestiality, The Shape of Water, a foolish film where whites are stealing blacks for traits they lack, Get Out; a movie where an unlikable grieving mother and racist former cop go to kill a man for no reason, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing; and a weak attempt to revive the character of the media, The Post.
We will never fix any of our nation’s problems if we don’t fix our culture and we can’t fix our culture if we’re promoting the people who are destroying it. The left is passive on crime, promotes bad behavior, mocks God, and lies with the ease we breathe. Whether it’s the GOP’s tax plan is akin to genocide or CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin stating that the president said we should give every teacher in America a gun, they are dangerous and executing an all-out war on our values. But hey, they’re not Trump.
